Calvary Chapel Tyler is a fellowship of believers dedicated to loving God, loving each other, and loving the lost.
- Love God - When asked what the greatest commandment from the Hebrew law was, Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy 6:5. "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." In essence, Jesus told this lawyer that we are to love God in all of His completeness (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), with everything that we are. For Calvary Chapel, this means we give a priority to the Word of God, and to worship.
- Love each other - As Jesus was completing the Last Supper, He gave the disciples a new commandment. John 13:34-35, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." As believers in Christ, we're to love one another with the same agape love that He had towards us. And according to Jesus, that may be the best witnessing we can do.
- Love the lost - Finally, when Jesus ascended into heaven, He left the disciples with a commission to go reach the world with the Good News. Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Jesus sent us into the world - not to be part of it, but to be a light to it. We, through the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) are to be His witnesses to those around us.
